REGISTRATION INFORMATION All summer program registrations will be at the Recreation Department starting May 31st for all of the swim lessons and youth activities. Fees must be paid in full at time of registration. No refunds or credit will be given unless a class is canceled due to lack of interest. People who do not reside within the city limits pay an extra nominal fee per program. We prefer checks instead of cash. Make checks payable to Glendive Recreation Department. We do not want to deny any child participation due to inability to pay. See us for details. (The Recreation Department is funded by the City of Glendive through taxes and user fees.) 4. Arts & Crafts I: Childres age 6-8 work on a variety of projects including making puppets, painting, coloring, using sidewalk chalk, growing plants and making "ink stamps" out of fruits & vegatables. the main goal of this class is to have fun and encourage creativity. Participants may need to supply some materials. 9:00-9:45 am. Recreation Department (M-F) Sessions 1&3. Cost: $22 city; $39 non-city. Arts & Crafts II: Kids age 9 & up will work on more complex projects including making ceramic whistles, building and painting birdhouses, making sand candles, and designing & painting T-shirts. Basic arts concepts will be introduced such as shapes, colors and composition. Participants may need to supply some materials. 10:00-10:45 am. Recreation Department (M-F) Sessions 2&4. Cost: $22 city; $39 non-city. Basketball: Learn the basic skill of basketball and play individual and team games. 11-11:45 a.m., M-F, Rec. Center Gym, sessions 1-4. Cost: $22; Non-City: $39. RECREATION EQUIPMENT RENTAL The Glendive Recreation Department has equipment available for rent. These items include: horseshoes, volleyball, badminton, frisbee, and softball equipment. A deposit is required at the time of pick up. It's a good idea to reserve picnic kits ahead of time for weekends. RECREATION YOUTH CENTER Recreation youth center gym is located at 314 N. River Avenue. It is open 2pm - 4:30 pm during the summer. Kids can play basketball, ping-pong pool & volleyball.

Short Tennis: Ages 3-5 only. This is an exellent way to introduce beginners to the basics of tennis. Activities will be geared to their present level of developmnet and progressively encouraged to improve. Class size is limited to 8 participants. 11:30 am - noon. Session 1 & 2 (MWF) Session 3 (M-F). Cost: $18 city; $29 non-city. National Junior Tennis League: In cooperation with the United States Tennis Association, youngsters ages 6 and up will learn the skills of a lifetime sport in an enviroment of teamwork, fun and low-key competition. Participants will be instructed on sportsmanship, healthy attitude towards competition and gain a solid foundation in skill development. We off three classes: Beginners: For children under 10 who have had very little contact with the sport of tennis. Intermediate: For children 10 and up who have had previous tennis instruction and are familar with how the game is played. Advanced: For those who have completed the intermediate course. (M-F) Session 1 & 2. Cost: $30 city; $48 non-city. Session 3 Cost: $20 city; $32 non-city. OTHER EVENTS & ACTIVITIES Hershey Track & Field: Saturday, June 4.This national priogram is for youth between 9 and 14 years of age and is the largest sports program of its kind in America. Registrations will be taken at the Recreation Department office until May 31st. The meet will be Saturday, June 4th at Perham Field beginning at 4:00 p.m. There will be 7 running events and 2 field events. Athletes are limited to 3 events. Top individual s in each age group and event will advance to the State Finals in Colstrip, MT. on June 11th. There is no cost for this event. King & Queen of the Court: Doubles Sand Volleyball Tournament: Action will take place Saturday June 18th at Jaycee West Park. All volleyball players are welcome to play. The competition is 2 vs. 2 with pool play as the format. No need to find a partner for this tournament as all players partner with all players throughout the tournament. Top male/female indidvdual is based on wins, losses and total points is King/Queen of the court. Prizes awarded to top 2 male & female players. Fee: $5 per person. Fun Track Meet: Wednesday July 6th. Children 15 & under will experience the fun of competing in an enviroment where all participants are winners. Events include: 25 meter baloon race, 25, 50, 75, 100, & 400 meter dashes, standing & running long jumps, softball throw, & adult-child races including a relay and a spoon race. Register from 6:00 - 6:15 pm on Wednesday July 6th. Starting time is 6:30 pm at Perham Football Field. COST: $2 per person.
SPECIAL RATES Summer Package: Individual youths that register for 6 activities (not including pool) over all sessions, will recieve a 10% discount on fee total. Individuals that register for 3 activities in one session will recieve a 10% discount per session. Family Discount: Discount of 10% is available for families registering two or more children for park program activities. Senior Citizens Discount: 10% is available for individuals 55 years and older. |
